As much as I like Gillen and McKelvie and absolutely love the Young Avengers, I think I might have to avoid the relaunch. The thought of Kate Bishop/Hawkeye having a one night stand with Noh-Varr is kind of a heavy blow right now.

I can't figure out why this fictional pairing would matter to me so much. I'm really too old for this OTP shit but it's still breaking my heart over here. Children's Crusade stung enough as it is but this feels like a nutshot. I think I need to just go lie down and watch cartoons or something...

Man, I mean... the way how Kate's been written up to now, she's always been seen as a young woman (due to extenuating circumstances) who's been pretty careful with who she gets with. After the stand off with Tommy and Eli (omg, Kate/Eli, OTP), for her to just be in a one night stand with Noh-Varr is- wow.

I mean, I'm glad that the YA is getting a relaunch (although I mourn over the lack of Eli), but Kate doing one night stands ? That doesn't seem to be in character at all.

I really hope Gillen gets the book right but yeah, a random one night stand at this stage in her life just didn't really seem like something she'd just up and do , at least not yet. I guess I have to wait and see how this all plays out. If nothing else, I'll at least get some pretty McKelvie art and it is good to know that the kids won't be shipped off to Avengers Arena.

I've reread the passage you have excerpted there - don't you think it's Gillen's version of a metaphor? (I know, I know, I live in hope).
